Building a Real-Time Service Marketplace

Leverage streaming data to architect a robust and responsive tradesperson ecosystem. Empower tradespeople and their customers to scalably and reliably communicate and transact, increasing ROI and efficiency for all.

Seamlessly Orchestrate Real-Time Interactions

From hiring electricians to HVAC technicians, all customer and tradesperson data, contracts and events specific to appointments, leads, etc. generate records that need to be updated in real time in order to align customer and tradesperson interactions. Confluent’s data streaming platform facilitates the movement of data between front-end and back-end microservices.

Job postings, bid placements, quotes, offers, scheduling, payments, reviews and rankings – these are some of the many microservices for which real-time data is critical. Confluent makes it easy to stream data from different sources, process data in real time, and allow for instant consumption by microservices.

Stream process millions of events per day.

Enable real-time decision-making.

Ensure data accuracy and integrity for reliable job scheduling.

Dynamically modify pricing and track payments, enhancing user experiences.

Scale amid rapid user growth and increasing event traffic while maintaining high performance and availability.

Integrate instantly with third-party services (e.g., payment gateways, background check providers) and maintain compatibility with evolving APIs.

Build with Confluent

This use case leverages the following building blocks in Confluent Cloud.

Reference Architecture

This reference architecture shows how Confluent Cloud underpins event-driven microservices, which allow for easier deployment, testing, and maintenance.

Connectors

Confluent’s fully managed source connectors for PostgreSQL and MySQL for real-time data ingestion, capturing new events such as a customer posting a new job.

Stream Processing

Stream processing is used to enrich data – such as combining real-time information (e.g., GPS data) with historical customer data – which then sinks to MongoDB and Snowflake.

Stream Governance

Stream governance ensures stream quality and maintains a steam catalog across teams and different versions of producers.

Microservices

As soon as an event is produced and processed, downstream consumers subscribed to a topic take action (e.g., emailing customers a notification). Different microservices including GPS, Financing, Accounting, R&D, and Auditing microservices receive real-time updates. The GPS microservice allows service truck location to be tracked in real time by customers on their mobile devices.
