Every day, 5.7 million rail passengers rely on Deutsche Bahn (DB) to get to their destination. To provide passengers with up-to-date, accurate, and consistent travel information, DB created the RI-Platform, a system that feeds data such as platforms, arrival and departure times, and queue locations to its station displays, announcement systems, and DB Navigator mobile app. Who did they partner with to build their passenger information system? Confluent. The new system, which has been in service for more than a year, handles 180 million events a day for 24,000 trains, delivering 99.9% availability from the moment it went live.
