Confluent's Modern Slavery Statement

This statement is made, pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, for and on behalf of Confluent, Inc. and its subsidiaries for the financial year ending on 31 December 2020. It sets out the overall commitment and steps taken by Confluent to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not present in our business or supply chain.

Slavery and Human Trafficking are terrible crimes which we are fully committed to preventing at any level in our operations and supply chain. This statement sets out the steps we have taken to identify potential risks relating to our business and to address and prevent modern slavery.

About Our Business

Confluent offers an event streaming platform based on Apache Kafka - enabling companies to power their business with real-time event streams. Our founders were the original creators of Apache Kafka, the open source technology that acts as a real-time, fault-tolerant, highly scalable streaming platform.

By leveraging the Apache Kafka technology, Confluent lets leaders in industries such as retail, logistics, manufacturing, financial services, technology, and media, move data from isolated systems into a real-time data pipeline where they can act on it immediately. We were founded in 2014 and are based in Mountain View, California.

Modern Slavery Statement

We are committed to ensuring that our business operates in a socially responsible way that prevents slavery and human trafficking. We are also committed to playing our part in helping the world to improve practices designed to combat slavery and human trafficking.

We are not aware of any allegations of human trafficking/slavery activities against any of our current suppliers. If such allegations arise, we will immediately conduct an inquiry and report it to the authorities where required.

Our Employee Culture

Confluent is committed to acting with integrity and operating in a fair and transparent manner.

We conduct our business in accordance with our guiding principles which we have adopted to represent the high standards that we set for ourselves and exemplify the ethos and values we seek to instill in our employees. These values include transparency, honesty, and #oneteam – a company-wide value exemplifying our company's and employees' commitment to supporting Confluent's people and treating them well. We assess employee performance against these principles.

We employ people from all backgrounds who share the ambitions and values of our business.

We strive to maintain the highest standards of employee conduct and ethical behavior. Confluent has adopted a Code of Conduct prohibiting violations of law, and has implemented additional policies and practices to prevent violations of labor and employment law. Our People Team personnel are trained to ensure that Confluent is compliant with such legal requirements. Our Code of Conduct encourages employees to do the right thing by clearly stating the actions and behavior expected of them when representing the business.

Our Supply Chain

Our key suppliers are typically in the fields of technology, data, office and facilities, and professional advisory services. We do not tolerate slavery and human trafficking within our supply chain and would seek to terminate our relationship with a supplier where evidence of the same occurred.

While we believe that we work in a sector or territories where modern slavery and human trafficking are particularly low risk, every company is at risk of being involved in some way through its operations and supply chain and we want to work with suppliers who are aligned to our values. We are committed to ensuring that there is no slavery or human trafficking arising in any part of our business or in relation to those with whom we conduct business.

Risk Assessment

We have developed standards, processes and procedures including:

  1. the monitoring and review of the effectiveness of our internal policies and their implementation;
  2. supplier risk assessments on proposed service providers;
  3. those to support an inclusive, open and tolerant workplace environment; and
